The Mykonos hotel scene is exploding with glamorous boutique properties giving The Belvedere, longtime style-staple, a run for the bling-crowd. In 2007 the hotel emerged from a major nip n'tuck with new lounges and renovated pool area centered on a glamorous poolside lounge designed by Colin Cowie. one of the world's (and Oprah's) top party planners. Now under a new name and direction, the lounge seems to flow freely from the low-flung loungers around the pool to the odd mezzanine bar once occupied by soiled white sofas and always-booked internet terminal. The space is alit in geometric couches with wooden cocktail tables opposite a long glittery bar attended by a mostly-male staff wearing all-white shirts unbuttoned to their rippled bellies. Open to both guests and non-guests, the bar is a high-end weekend romp for pre-nightclub revelry that usually includes a few famous faces and at least one much-regretted fully clothed swim in the Belvedere pool.
Tips
Don't forget to eat, the bar serves-up a delicious cocktail menu with bite-size presentations of grilled octopus, lamb chops and salmon tartare that are tasty and low-cal.
